Dancing Together

“Let it be a dance we do.
May I have this dance with you?
Through the good times
And the bad times, too,
Let it be a dance”

These lyrics from one of my favorite songs always bring to mind the way we interact with each other here at UUCE. We dance together, we dance alone. We dance in pairs and in groups. We form committees and serve on the board. We teach RE classes and we preach sermons. We tend our prairie and our building. Sometimes we lead and sometimes we follow. The music changes tempo and melody. The steps are sometimes difficult, and we look to leaders to help us find the way. The choreography changes and sometimes we drift apart.

“Learn to follow, learn to lead,
Feel the rhythm, fill the need.
To reap the harvest, plant the seed.
And let it be a dance”

I come to this community as an imperfect human. I don’t always bring my best self to this place. Even so, I feel accepted here, warts and all. Along with my family, I have been coming to UUCE since 1992. I have served the community in many ways. And it is for this opportunity to serve, even imperfectly, that I am most grateful to be part of UUCE.

“Let the sun shine, let it rain,
Share the laughter, bare the pain,
And round and round we go again.
Let it be a dance”

Though we are facing uncertain times in this community again, we can still keep dancing together. If we lean into our imperfection, accept that the steps will change, and practice the dance of radical generosity, we will not only survive, but thrive. My husband Ed and I believe in giving generously to UUCE because we support the mission and vision of this church. Will you join us?

“Let it be a dance we do.
May I have this dance with you?
Through the good times
And the bad times, too,
Let it be a dance”

Amen and Blessed Be
