A series of three Sunday services in November described the intrinsic nature of social justice in the practice of both Unitarians and Universalists, and social action by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin over the past 50 years. The program on November 17th gathered about fifty folks into small groups to share what issues move us most and call out for our attention.
On January 12th at 8:45am, those who would like to influence the direction of and take an active role in social action at UUCE will meet with the current Social Justice team: Tom Durkin, Elizabeth Olson, and Andrea Schmidlin to give shape to our plan. Our agenda will look like this:
- What is Social Justice and what should our church’s social action program look like?
- What activities are we already engaged in with Elgin area agencies that we wish to maintain and expand?
- What current opportunities are available to us and our UU partners in the Midwest region?
- How do we begin?
Whether you are task oriented or visionary, there is a role for you to play, Please join us! Sunday January 12, 8:45-10:15am, Room 301.
