The delicate and the ferocious
in nature

Stephen Packard directs the Chicago area programs of the National Audubon Society. Packard is currently a Steering Committee member of Chicago Wilderness and is Senior Editor of Chicago Wilderness magazine. He is also on the editorial board of the journal Ecological Restoration.
He has extensive experience in the restoration of prairies and oak woodlands. His work on the oak ecosystems in particular has led to new insights that have challenged existing ideas about the composition and dynamics of these vanishing rare communities.
