The UU Prison Ministry of Illinois is dedicated to addressing the gross injustices in our criminal justice system – mass incarceration, dehumanizing treatment, lack of restorative justice, and barriers to housing and employment when released. We focus on two main functions: one, working with those who are victims of the system while they are in prison and after they are released, and two, leading the advocacy effort to change the broken system itself.
Their most recent interventions have been focused on attenuating the consequences of the Covid-19 virus for those incarcerated. For more information on this initiative, as well as our other programs, please check out their website at http://www.uupmi.org/.
If you would like to donate, please visit uuce.org and look for the word “Donate” in the upper right-hand corner. Or send a check to the Administrator at the church address 39W830 Highland Ave, Elgin, IL 60124. As always, on a check or in Tithely, it’s important to note on the memo line where you would like your donation to go.
Thank you for your generosity.
