Temporary Closing of Church Building

Dear Members, Friends, Visitors and Staff of UUCE,

Due to the Covid-19 virus, based on guidance from the UUA and discussion with knowledgeable members of the congregation, the UUCE building will be closed to in-person meetings, including Sunday service, for the time being and while the shelter in place order in mandated. We will re-evaluate local conditions later this month, and look at a possible future opening date.

The Worship Team is discussing how we might accommodate Sunday service via streaming video or other distance methods, and more information will be sent about those plans when we have them. Until then, please remember that there are audio recordings of numerous past services available on the UUCE website at http://www.uuce.org/service-recordings/.

From the available information, social distancing is an important part of controlling the spread of COVID-19, and so we must do our part by supporting those efforts.

Staff and volunteers who have a need to visit the building to perform important functions such as preparing bills or signing checks are free to do so, however we should attempt to keep social and physical distance during these visits.  Hourly staff will continue to be paid for regularly scheduled hours during this time, and where possible, staff should continue to perform planning or other duties as usual.

We should still continue to come together using available technology to hold scheduled meetings.  The Board will meet in this way on March 18. Please let the Executive Team know if you have any questions using the team email ET@uuce.org. We thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

UUCE Executive Team
